But I don’t care. I just need the Silver Spirit/Spur to stay at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for like 3 more years and I will make one mine. That or a Turbo R.
Also, this one should be in perfect working order considering it’s in Mechanicville.

There’s a $3,500 Silver Shadow for sale near me. The ad claims it needs belts, a battery, and a GM sourced transmission to drive.

For roughly 1/4 the price, you can have the same car size/profile/comfort... in a Mercedes Benz!
Used 1987 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL, $5,959, 100,021 mi. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/685394773/overview/
note - your opinions may vary! Seriously, looking at the lead image, I was trying to figure out which Mercedes saloon car it was. They are that similar in profile. I’d give a lot to drive a RR for a day, but it would kill me to own it for a month, so I’ll continue to wish for one as a gift... or maybe a car rental for the kids weddings?

Old Rolls-Royces don’t hold value. The kind of people that can afford a new one don’t want an old one, since they don’t work well as a status symbol. And everyone else knows how much they cost to fix & maintain.
‘70s era Silver Shadows are even cheaper, which is why they’re the go-to choice whenever a TV or movie production needs to show a wealthy villain’s Rolls-Royce being destroyed for comedic effect.

True. Although after a certain point (about 50 years it seems) they become a collector item and a symbol of taste and old money.

Yes, they just have to get through that awkward middle period. Right now, it seems like everything after the Silver Cloud is in it, other than the big Phantoms.
